I was trying to find a good way to put the maps together for my upcoming NYC guide that I’m posting here, when Alex pointed me to a very interesting link – My Maps within Google Maps! You can start from scratch with a map, place markers down on your favourite places to go, add in commentary about each marker, and draw in the route lines along the streets if you wish. Then you can share the link with friends and family so they can all see what your favourite spots are – and they can overlay their preferred places with yours to compare notes!

Give it a try if you have time to tinker! I’m planning on marking down all the interesting places in Toronto as well. It’s a great way to stay organized, too, if you have a list of places you’d like to check out but haven’t gotten around to keeping track of them.

favourite photo?

i just spent the last hour looking for a good photo of myself on my computer because alex complained that the avatar i had was too gloomy.

of the albums containing trips to vancouver, paris, barcelona, chudleigh’s apple farm, julia’s res, etc., i could not find one photo i liked. despite the fact that we have a better camera now, and i just got a new lens, i still couldn’t find an acceptable photo.

finally i found one that i have deemed useable, and the stupidest thing is that it’s a photo alex snapped of me in the elevator after we got our new 50mm 1.4 lens. why is that stupid? because i absolutely hate it when he snaps away, capturing photos of me mid-sentence, mid-chew, mid-everything embarrassing. all i can say is, i guess he was bound to get lucky eventually.

i’ve included the photo in the about me section for now, but also updated my avatar and twitter photos too with it. until i find a better picture, this is it!

get me more pedestals!

much to alex’s dismay, i love everything vintage. the movie posters, the coke memorabilia, the trinket-y decor, the bright orange and avocado green housewares, i love them all – no filters.

the following selection is more toned down in terms of personal taste, though, and i just had to share my finds: milk glass!

i found quite a few items on etsy, which btw is an awesome website for online shopping for the adventurous types.

first up – cake pedestal! i have two already, but they come in so many different shapes, colours, and sizes that i can never get enough.
